A memorial service for Cmdr. Luther Hook III, executive officer at Naval Air Station Fallon, will be conducted Saturday at 10 a.m. at Hanger 2.
Public affairs officer Zip Upham said Monday afternoon the service will be open to the public with a reception to follow. Uniform for the military will be summer whites.
Hook, 44, and three of his daughters from a previous marriage died in a plane crash Friday evening near the Fallon Municipal Airport. He died in the twin-engine Cessna crash along with daughters Kaitlyn Elizabeth, 15, Rachel Katherine, 12, and Mackenzie Elena, 9.
Hook is survived by his wife Wende Hucke Hook, a native of Fallon, a daughter and step-daughter.
The Hucke and Hook family have also issued a joint statement to the public:
"On behalf of the Hook and Hucke family, we want to express our heartfelt
appreciation to those of you who have shown their support to our families
during this most trying time.
"Not only do we feel heartfelt sorrow and an immense loss of a son, husband,
father and son-in-law, but the Navy community has lost a great aviator and
officer who loved his country and served with pride and dignity.
"We are also feeling the tremendous loss of three beautiful girls - Kaitlyn,
Rachel and Mackenzie - who visited us regularly and enjoyed the warmth and
hospitality of the Fallon community. We also share the sorrow with the
girls' mother and stepfather - Brenda and Pat - who are feeling a great
loss of these three beautiful girls.
"Luther, Kaitlyn, Rachel and Mackenzie will always be in our hearts, now and
forever."
