2:21 p.m.

A powder found dumped on the ground outside the Southwest Gas offices on Eagle Station is likely a "household product," said Carson City Fire Chief Stacey Giomi.

"We've run all the preliminary field tests that we can run, and it has come back as a common household product, not any biological agent," he said.

Giomi said a sample has been sent to a lab in Reno to further determine the origin, but the fire department is now working under the presumption that there is no danger.

Two employees that were quarantined immediately following the 10 a.m. report today, have since been released.

Giomi said the fire department will remain at the scene until a private contractor hired by the gas company cleans up t he powder that's spread liberally on the ground and windows of the building's front entrance.

The Carson City Fire Department is currently on the scene responding to a report of an unknown powder found outside the office of Southwest Gas, 400 Eagle Station Lane in south Carson City.

The powder appears to have been thrown at the door.

Two employees have been quarantined. The fire department will conduct tests to determine what the substance is. Fire chief Stacy Giomi said it's unlikely the tests will be completed before lunch.

The customer lobby is closed until further notice.
