Sierra Crest Academy presents 'The Princess Bride'

The students of Sierra Crest Academy present "The Princess Bride," 7 p.m., Friday, May 29 and 5 p.m., Saturday, May 30 at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada, 813 N. Carson St. The Saturday night show will be followed by a family dance with live music. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children. For tickets and information, call 783-9002.

Donations sought for yard sale

Evergreen Mountain View Care Center is seeking donations for a spring cleaning yard sale, Saturday. Proceeds go to No Resident Left Behind and Relay for Life - Kicking Cancer off the Globe. Chautauqua at Dangberg Home Ranch on Saturday

Nevada State Parks hosts a free Chautauqua presentation by Michael Fischer at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park, 11 a.m., Saturday. Fisher will portray the ranch's founder Heinrich F. Dangberg Sr. This is the first in a series of monthly speakers planned for the 2009 season. Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park, located just west of Minden in Douglas County at 1450 Highway 88. Veterans Service Day in Fallon on Saturday

The American Legion Post 16 and The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 16 will hold the Veterans Service Day, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday at the Fallon Convention Center, 100 Campus Way. Trained service officers will be on location to assist area veterans and their families with benefits counseling, claims assistance, filing for Veteran's Administration home loans, educational programs, etc. This is a free service to all Nevada veterans and their families. Ballroom dance lessons offered

Larry Ward will teach ballroom dancing to adults and teens at the Carson Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive. Beginner classes are 6:30-8:30 p.m.; Intermediate classes are 8-9 p.m. Classes begin June 1 and meet every Monday. Cost is $8 per person. Women's fun night out is Friday night

An evening of entertainment featuring pot-luck games and food will be the Fun Night Out for the Carson City Democratic Women's Club on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at 741 Buzzy's Ranch Road, Carson City. There is no charge and all women are invited. For information and directions call Joan at 882-5704.
