A powder found dumped on the ground outside the Southwest Gas offices on Eagle Station Lane is likely a household product, said Carson City Fire Chief Stacey Giomi.

"We've run all the preliminary field tests that we can run, and it has come back as a common household product, not any biological agent," he said.

Giomi said a sample has been sent to a lab in Reno to further determine the origin.

Two employees that were quarantined following the 10 a.m. report Tuesday were released about 2 p.m.

Giomi said fire department personnel remained at the scene until a private contractor hired by the gas company cleaned up the powder.

More than a cup of white powder appeared to have been deliberately flung on the glass doors and front of the office building across from Greater Nevada Credit Union and down the street from J.C. Penney.

Carson City investigators are trying to find out who left the powder there.
