A serious runaway: The Gillson & Barber's delivery wagon became unmanageable and dashed up Carson Street. The wagon was occupied by the driver, Baldwin, and another attache by the name of Albert Gelinas. When the team got to the Post Office, the tongue of the wagon broke. Opposite the Arlington House they ran against a telegraph pole. Gelinas fell on his left temple, producing a concussion of the brain. His condition is precarious.

Owls gain wisdom: The local lodge of the Orders of the Owls held a special meeting. Quite a number of member were present to listen to the lecture of Mr. Stork. The Owls will hold an important business meeting and it behooves each member to show up in full leather on that occasion. From the Truckee Republican.

Martha Ferris Schulz, a resident of Ormsby county since the early 1870s died at her home. Martha Ferris was born at Galesburg, Ill., in 1867 and crossed the plains with her father George Ferris. Their first home in Carson was known as the Ardery Home.

The Nevada State Commission on Economic Development had an open house to show the public modern, spacious offices at the Fireside Inn. "This location is ideal for us," according to Bob Shriver, CED executive director.
