The Western Nevada baseball team ended its attempt at becoming the JUCO World Series champs with an 11-3, seven-inning loss at the hands of top-ranked Howard.

The loss marked the second in the tourney to Howard, who previously beat WNC 4-3 in the first game of the tournament.

David Carroll took the loss after giving up three runs in the first inning and one in the second. He lasted just three innings.

The Wildcats scored two runs in the first inning, but could only garner one more in the game. Lance Ray tried to keep the game going in the seventh inning with a solo homer, but Brian Barnett struck swinging and the Wildcats fell victim to the eight-run rule.

The Wildcats will host a farewell barbeque at John L. Harvey Field on Monday noon where players will receive the Scenic West Athletic Conference trophy.
