Lyon County physician Robin Titus has announced plans to challenge Sen. Harry Reid in the 2010 election.
"We have incredible resources in our state and Harry Reid has neglected them," said Titus, a Republican. "He has not helped develop the resources we have here."
She said in addition to marketing Nevada casinos, other resources should be marketed. She said solar and wind power potential has not been tapped, along with such agriculture.
"I think it is a huge mistake to ignore agriculture," she said. "Millions of dollars come in from valleys in Nevada and are not appreciated."
She said the economy is in trouble in part "because of dishonorable practices."
Titus is a 25-year resident of Lyon County and a graduate of the University of Nevada and the School of Medicine in 1981.
