Contract workshop hosted by Sen. Ensign

U.S. Sen. John Ensign is presenting a special workshop to help small businesses learn how to contract with the government on June 16 at 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Joe Crowley Student Union on the campus of University of Nevada, Reno.

The event will consist of a combination of presentations and information tables.

During the 90 minutes, participants will have the opportunity to talk individually with agencies and resource partners to receive additional information.

34 new members join NBC in last 2 months

Nevada Business Connections announced that 34 new members have joined the marketing and business development organization in the last two months, bring total membership to 143.

Carson chamber hosting annual meeting

The Carson City Chamber of Commerce is planning a special evening of fun and entertainment for its annual meeting on June 15 at 6 p.m. at the Carson Nugget.

The event promises a special menu, with entertainment by Garfin Gathering.

Center gets makeover

Shaheen Beauchamp Builders LLC has completed an exterior renovation of the City Center retail center located at 444 East Williams Street in Carson City.

The renovation of the approximately 21,000 square foot center consisted of new stone veneer, canopies and exterior colors. The project began on May 1 and was completed while the center and its tenants remained opened for business.

"Our goal was complete the project as quickly as possible, with the least amount of inconvenience to the tenants" said Mark Beauchamp. "The new colors and exterior materials have really given the center an updated fresh retail appearance."

The tenants in the center include Tito's Mexican Food, Ben's Fine Wine & Sprits, Hollywood Video, Sierra Joe's Burgers & Such, Frog's CTR, Shear Design and Jenny Craig's Weight Loss Center.

The Architect on the project was Ken Bartlett of Bartlett Architecture in Reno.

Catch this seminar, if you can

Frank Abagnale, author and subject of the book-turned-movie "Catch Me If You Can," will be part of a panel of experts at a free seminar on protecting assets from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. June 2 at the Carson Nugget.

Abagnale was a con artist who later became a leading authority on fraud and identity theft. He will be joined on the panel by John Scott from the Small Business Administration, Erich Bollinger from Nevada State Bank and economist and author Jeff Thredgold.

The seminar is sponsored by Nevada State Bank.
