TRUCKEE, Calif. (AP) - A pair of days of ideal conditions for snowmaking in the Sierra and around Lake Tahoe last week has allowed Boreal Mountain Resort to open the slopes for skiing seven days a week.
Resort spokesman Jon Slaughter says Boreal opened for good on Friday thanks in part to a new snowmaking system. Before then, it had been open only on weekends.
Slaughter says only one ski lift - the Castle Peak Quad - is open at this time.
He says the adjacent run has an average base of 24 inches but the snow is up to 8 feet deep in some areas. That run includes at least 20 terrain park features for snowboarders, including jump lines, boxes, rails and a staircase.
