Tongue and Needle: A church sewing society met yesterday at the residence of Mrs. George R. Davis. The Appeal reporter who dropped in to look after his character found that he reached the scene too late. The room was strewn with the corpses of slain reputations. Peace be to the spirits of the dead.
The Comstock papers complain that the new fence designed after a lot of snakes coiling in all directions ought to be taken down. Since the fence went up, hundreds of citizens have rushed from "B" street (in Virginia City) to seek seclusion at a doctor's office. They are under the impression that the jim jams had come at last.

Judge Edwards is anxious that the parties who removed his gate on Halloween bring it back or let him know where to find it.

First family has new baby. Nevada's first lady, Sandy Miller, gave birth to daughter, Megan LynnD. This is the first baby born to an active governor since 1909. The new baby was born on Governor and Mrs. Miller's wedding anniversary.
