Traveling circus: The police discovered a man near the corner of Second and Carson streets engaging in a tumultuous conduct. As officers approached, he was pulling off his clothes and throwing them, for a while the air looked as if an explosion had taken place in a junk shop. His name was Tom Black, and he was part of a traveling circus. When he was locked up, a half filled bottle of Slippery Gulch whiskey was found on his person.

George V. Allison was among 10 top university of Nevada seniors who have been nominated for membership in "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges," according to Sam Basta, dean of student affairs.

East Germany permanently lifted travel restrictions on citizens, and West Germany's foreign minister said workers could begin knocking new holes in the Berlin Wall which for 28 years trapped East Germans in their rigidly controlled country.

Parking is planned along Highway 50 east at Mills Park. The proposed project would add spaces and relocate a bike bath, source of funding was a $16,000 gift from the Carson City Convention & Visitors Bureau.
