Gil Yanuck
Carson City resident Gil Yanuck has been selected by AARP to receive Nevada's 2009 AARP Andrus Award for Community Service, the association's most prestigious and visible volunteer award for community service.
Yanuck was selected for his service and the impact he's had on the lives of others and his community. From his work to protect the Nevada Sage Grouse as a Carson County representative on the Nevada Board of Wildlife Management to his role serving on the Board of the Carson-Tahoe Regional Hospital, Gil is tireless in his work for the community.
In 2009, he added a role serving on the Carson City Chamber of Commerce Board, where he also serves as an AARP chamber representative in Carson City. In addition he volunteers as the Northern Nevada director of AARP's Tax Aide program, a free tax preparation service with sites in 17 communities in the north, which served over 4,000 people in 2009.
The AARP Andrus Award for Community Service recognizes members and volunteers who, through volunteer service, are significantly enhancing the lives of individuals age 50 and over.
