SALINAS, Calif. (AP) - The fatal shooting of a Salinas father of two over the weekend marks the city's 25th homicide of 2009 - tying last year's record.

Twenty-seven-year-old Carlos Anthony Alfaro died early Sunday after he was shot several times in the face, chest and torso outside his apartment complex. Police have made no arrests in the killing and have no motive.

Alfaro's death was part of a violent Thanksgiving weekend in Salinas that included three other, unrelated shootings.

Salinas police have said all of this year's homicides appear to be gang-related. Last year, 23 of the 25 were gang-related.
