LAS VEGAS (AP) - The political advocacy group ACORN and a former regional supervisor must stand trial in state court on felony charges they paid canvassers to collect voter registration applications last year.

Las Vegas Justice of the Peace William Jansen bound the two over for trial Wednesday even as he acknowledged that there are legal issues to answer first.

But he says a jury should get to decide whether the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now and former regional supervisor Amy Busefink are guilty of illegally awarding $5 "blackjack" bonuses to canvassers during last year's presidential campaign.

Lawyers for ACORN and Busefink say they will plead not guilty at arraignment Oct. 14 in Clark County District Court.
