Officials with Sierra Nevada Corp. say the aerospace technology company plans to hire about 100 workers at its Hagerstown, Md., site.
Vice president William Shaver says the company recently received a nearly $610 million contract to equip aircraft for the Department of Homeland Security. The aircraft will conduct customs and border protection.
Shaver says now the Hagerstown site, near Hagerstown Regional Airport, has a little more than 500 employees. About half are contractors.
The new employees will include engineers, airframe and powerplant mechanics, avionics and structural experts, production workers, fabrication and metal workers, supply handlers and maintenance staff.
