130 YEARS AGO

We would suggest to the young men that have no place to go, to go to the Reform Club rooms - they have plenty of reading material always on hand. The remains of Mr. Mattias Rinckel were taken to their final resting place yesterday, followed by a large group of friends.

100 YEARS AGO

President Taft is in Yosemite and every night is guarded by a troop of calvary. Dispatches do not say that he is guarded to prevent him from making any more foolish speeches.

50 YEARS AGO

The first meeting of Carson Assembly No. 7 of the Order of Rainbow for Girls under the new corps of officers was held last evening with Sally Woodgate, worthy advisor, presiding. Plans were completed for a costume Halloween party.

20 YEARS AGO

A survey shows Nevada schools fall behind the nation in teacher pay and government support and efforts by the 1989 legislature will surely cause some "backsliding." State superintendent Gene Paslov said the NEA report simply reflects reality and no real improvement has been seen. The report ranks Nevada in the bottom third of spending.
