The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada will host a free special event Saturday morning.

Saint Mary's Home Care is presenting a "traveling body exhibit," from 10 a.m. to

3 p.m. at the museum. A variety of health-related exhibits will be available aimed at children ages 4 and older.

Children will be able to conduct a chemistry lab experiment and watch a puppet show that teaches lessons on dental hygiene.

Hands-on exhibits will include puzzles of the brain and torso, showing how organs fit together, and a replica of a heart that kids can pump "blood" through.

A handwashing station will feature a black light that, shined on little hands, shows how germs can stick around, and stresses the importance of thorough washing.

Pediatric nurses will be on hand to answer questions about children's health, including the need for flu shots, and other concerns.

Children will be given passports, and can receive stickers at each exhibit. Each child will receive a small prize.

Keva Juice, a co-sponsor, will sell kid-sized fruit smoothies and hot dogs.

Also Saturday, a scarecrow workshop will help kids create a scary, or just fun, Halloween friend. Participants should bring old clothes, panty hose, scarves, hats and other accessories. Museum volunteers will provide straw and guidance.

The museum is at 813 N. Carson St. For more information, call 884-2226.
