An old Carsonite, now residing in Bodie, says "for God's sake, stay where you are," there are too many good mechanics and too few jobs, the water is awful and everybody's sick because there are no sewers. Nine out of 10 that contract pneumonia die and the wind blows through all the shanties here.

Adolph Dressler has started work on the installation of an electric plant at his ranch a short distance below Genoa. The plant will be used to furnish lights to his residence, pump water for irrigation from the Carson River and perhaps furnish power to Genoa, if extended.

Carson and Douglas football teams will meet for the second time this season Saturday afternoon on Carson's newly turfed gridiron. When the teams met two weeks ago, Carson won by 6-0. Those looking forward to the advent of six-man football in Carson will no doubt be sorry to learn that all games have been canceled due to lack of time and material.
50 YEARS AGO
Ormsby County Schools will participate in a "Hunger Hoe Down" at the high school this week as the main fundraiser for the PTA, according to Adrian Long, PTA president. Al Seelinger, school superintendent said funds raised will be used for audio visual aids and playground equipment.

U.S. Congresswoman Barbara Vucanovich, R-Nevada, is considering a run against Gov. Bob Miller. Vucanovich made the announcement after Attorney General Brian McKay said he is dropping out of a race against Miller.
10 YEARS AGO
Gov. Kenny Guinn took up the DMV's stance supporting the computer system saying it is getting better. He proposed not pulling the new system off-line.
