Author to share firefighting stories

The Douglas County Public Library in Minden presents a free event featuring an appearance by Nevada author Shawn Grady from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 17.

Grady will discuss his book, "Through the Fire." The book blends "Backdraft"-like thrills with romantic suspense and spiritual overtones. The author will sell his books, meet readers and sign autographs.

Grady has served for more than a decade as a firefighter and paramedic in Reno. He is a former employee of the East Fork Fire and Paramedic Districts in Douglas County. His work has taken him from high-rise fires in the city to the burning heavy timber of the eastern Sierra. He now lives with his wife and three children in south Reno.

The Douglas County Public Library is located at 1625 Library Lane in Minden. For more information call the library at 775-782-9841 or visit douglas.lib.nv.us.
