Health care issues
a confusing mess
I guess that I am not quite as trusting of our government as Eugene Paslov. Most Americans, including me, are perfectly willing to pay a little more for health care if it will help provide care for a deserving person who cannot afford it.
But I am not willing to pay more to line the pockets of bottom-sucking attorneys like former presidential candidate John Edwards, nor am I willing to enrich insurance companies who have successfully lobbied our state legislatures to eliminate competition. And, I certainly don't want the government taking over our health care system and turning it into another bureaucratic, inefficient mess.
Sen. Tom Carper, D-Del., recently admitted that he wasn't going to read the actual legislative language because he finds it "one of the more confusing things I have ever read in my life." If he votes without fully understanding the bill, he is breaking his sacred oath and should be tarred and feathered and driven out of Washington on a rail.
I call upon Sen. Reid to make sure that each and every senator has read and fully understands each measure of any legislation before a vote is called. I think the American people deserve that and are demanding that from all elected officials. If the senator fails to take this reasonable measure, I hope he will be treated as he deserves when he visits to ask us to send him back home to Washington next year.

Stupidity no reason
for ethics investigation
Ted Kennedy killed a girl at Chappaquiddick. Where was the outrage?
Sen. John Ensign did a stupid thing. However, he does not deserve the attention that the left-wing loonies are trying to bring about by suggesting that somehow the ethics committee should get involved. Remember what the hero of Chappaquiddick did.

No one is perfect,
but honesty is OK
To all our politicians: No one is perfect in life, but in my heart I believe that if you are serving in a public office, you should conduct your life as ethically, morally and soundly as you can so we, the public, can trust and believe in what politicians say and what they do.
Why is it so hard to find a honest politician in today's world?
