Coin presentation highlights Budd's life

Rusty Goe will give a PowerPoint presentation sponsored by the Carson City Historical Society at 6 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Carson City Library, 900 N. Roop St. His topic will be "Harold M. Budd, Sr., the Ambassador of Carson City Coin Collecting in the First Half of the 20th Century."

Decades after Budd's death, Carson City Mint historian Rusty Goe, has linked some of the most famous coins from Nevada's storied mint to Budd. Goe also has uncovered interesting information about Budd's relationship to Carson City.

Goe's presentation will capture the important events in Budd's life, especially as they relate to Nevada.

Get involved in Carson Riverfest

Residents and groups are invited to trim their waists as they trim waste from 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Korean War Veterans memorial Park at Riverview Park wetlands area at the east end of 5th Street.

Projects will include work on habitat preservation, cottonwood tree protection, trash removal, willow plan-

ting and riverbank stabilization.

The cleanup program is part of the Carson City Chamber of Commerce's overall goal to create and maintain pride in the community. Contact the chamber at 882-1565 to be put on the list.

Free lunch will be provided for cleanup volunteers at the Elks Lodge in Carson City following the event, 515 N. Nevada St.

RV Club planning last campout of season

The Carson City Roadrunners RV Club will have its last campout for the season from Tuesday, Oct. 20 to Friday, Oct. 23 at Weed Heights RV Park in Yerington. Republican Women to host program

The Carson City Republican Women will once again host "Discover the Making of America" from the National Center for Constitutional Studies.

The program will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24 with "Developing America's Great Success Formula" followed by "The Perfect Plan of Liberty" at 12:45 p.m. Adult admission is $15 and students are $12. A box lunch is available for $5.

The program will be presented at the Plaza Hotel Convention Center, 211 East Ninth St., Carson City. Call Pat Fike at 720 -2391 for registration information.
