Richard W. Watson
June 29, 1918 - October 13, 2009
Richard Watson, 91, of Carson City, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 13, 2009. He was born in Akron, Ohio, to Richard Sr. and Ida Watson.
Richard was predeceased by his parents, his younger brother Harold and his wife of 60 years, Freda. He is survived by his son, Ken; nephew Mike Turney; niece Wendy McCleary; and nephew Brian Watson.
Richard was a B-17 pilot in England during WWII. It is there he met his wife Freda. He served 26 years in the U.S. Air Force before retiring at the rank of lieutenant colonel. He lived in the Los Angeles area for many years before moving to Carson City to be near his son, Ken, after the passing of his wife.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24 at Walton's Chapel of The Valley in Carson City. In lieu of flowers, a donation to The National Federation of the Blind, Baltimore, Md. would be greatly appreciated.
The family would like to thank his caregiver and friend, Maria and the caregivers at Mountain Springs Assisted Living for their thoughtfulness and love shown to Richard during his final months.
