Startled the Boys: Last night at George & Drake's Saloon it was whispered about that a woman was among them, which had the effect of making many a married amateur gamester look up, and the sighs of relief expressed when the gamers detected not their wive's features. She was a stranger to everyone, tall, with a beautiful face. Before leaving the establishment, she threw a half dollar on the bar and called for some whiskey, which she drank down like an old veteran.

The mining congress in Goldfield has enacted a resolution to publish yearly sworn statements by all mining companies selling stock as to sales and development work ... effectively killing wildcat stocks.

Carson High's Jitterbugs are pleased with the addition of another loud speaker in the auditorium. The extra speaker was installed after the complaint by some students that the music wasn't loud enough. Staff has been working hard on the innovation, which allows students to dance to records of leading orchestras.

Nevada Day visitors will be able to see and hear "The Story of Squaw Valley," producer Art Gerber said today. The presentation will be continuous in the corridor next to the governor's office Nevada Day and will feature slides by Gerber and Don Boone with narration by William Cantrell.

Carson City Toastmasters celebrated 42 years in the capital city by honoring Leon Cowan. The group was formed in 1957 and Cowan was part of the original group and had been a member continuously since it's inception.
