Distribution of water project funds not fair

Am I missing something? On Oct. 16, the Nevada Appeal article "Sen.Reid brings in $57 million for projects" - energy and water projects - stated that $7 million goes to water and stream projects in Tahoe and a measly $50,000 goes to the Washoe Tribe in Gardnerville for six windmill construction to generate energy for their community centers. The Paiute-Shoshone tribe in Fallon gets a measly $200,000 to research solar resources.

Hasn't Tahoe received a lot of federal money in the past to preserve the lake's quality? I am tired of giving money to Tahoe and the Desert Research Institute to preserve the lake when the TRPA continues to allow the building of expensive, exclusive homes and condos, which increases the population, ground cover, and sediment runoff to the lake.

Is this fair? The first word of the research institute at UNR says Desert and that covers all of Nevada.

And $196 million to stop the Yucca Mountain Project and to fund a blue ribbon commission to study alternatives - can't we just close the doors? As always, we spend lots of money to develop director positions, committees, commissions, etc., to create jobs. Oh, I see, we create the jobs of those committee, director and commission members.

Heaven help us, we are out of control.

Incumbents, you won't get my vote in 2010

To my senators and congressmen: I see that Sen. Reid is hiding behind closed doors, conspiring on the new health care plan in complete secrecy from the people he works for, the American citizens.

Unless the people, your employer, can see what this bill curtails before you shove it down our throats, I can surely guarantee you that in 2010 most of the incumbents will be in the unemployment line after Election Day. We are supposed to be a free society by the people and for the people. We do not enact legislation behind closed doors unless this was a socialistic government.

I am one unhappy senior citizen and it will be my duty on Election Day in 2010 to vote for absolutely no incumbents who had voted this way. This I guarantee you, and I am not alone.
