RENO (AP) - A $1,000 reward is being offered for information on two separate animal poaching cases near Reno.
The Nevada Department of Wildlife says a buck mule deer was found Sunday near Cold Springs, about a half-mile east of Highway 395. The animal was gutted, skinned and its antlers were removed, but all the meat was left to rot.
Game wardens say a buck antelope was found in the same vicinity a few weeks earlier. The back straps and hind quarters of that animal were taken, but the rest was left.
Authorities believe the antelope was killed illegally because the nearest legal hunting area was at least a two-hour drive away.
Reward money is being offered through the wildlife agency's Operation Game Thief.
