NV Energy and the state's Commission on Economic Development have formed a partnership to push Nevada's virtues to the solar industry.
Team Nevada will head for the Solar Electric Power Association's trade show in Anaheim next week. The show, Oct. 26-30, is billed as the largest business-to-business solar trade show in the nation.
More than 900 companies will present exhibits with some 25,000 industry representatives expected to attend.
Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki said the goal is to convince solar energy businesses that Nevada offers the perfect business environment for companies that make photovoltaic panels and other products needed to produce solar energy.
"Of course, Nevada's abundant sunshine is already attracting companies interested in building solar power plants," he said. "But we also want to market Nevada as a hub for renewable energy manufacturing, research and development."
Team Nevada will have a booth at the event and host a reception for those attending on Monday.
Brad Woodring of NV Energy said the utility is committed to working with the state in promoting Nevada's renewable energy assets.
"Our meeting with decision makers of major renewable energy companies is to share the message that Nevada is ready to do what's needed to attract new business," he said.
