RENO (AP) - In the largest single strike at Mexican drug operations in the U.S., authorities have arrested more than 300 people in a sting that included three arrests in Reno.
The FBI says the "La Familia" operation demonstrates a young cartel's vast reach north of the border. The arrests were in 38 cities from Boston to Seattle and from St. Paul, Minn., to Raleigh, N.C.
The men arrested in Reno on Thursday were: Gerardo Vergara-Nunez, aka "Gallo"; Roque Edwin Gonzalez-Najera and Jose Diaz-Gutierrez.
The FBI in Reno seized three pounds of methamphetamine from a storage unit, two residences and a vehicle. Agents from Reno also arrested a fourth man, Mario Rivera-Gonzales, in San Jose, California.
So far, the charging documents have been sealed.
