Barbara Anne Ward of Minden, Nev., passed away peacefully October 25, 2009, at home surrounded by family. Barbara was born September 13, 1947, in Stillwater, Okla., to Mjr V. Isaac Gabbard and Glenna M. Wehl.
A Celebration Memorial will be held in her honor at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 28 at Hilltop Community Church, 3616 N. Sunridge Dr., Jacks Valley, Nev.
After living in Riverside and Belmont Shores, Calif., she moved to the island of Oahu living on the north shore for six years. She returned to mainland California, moving to Laguna Beach. Following in her two sisters' tracks, Barbara moved to the Carson Valley 23 years ago.
Barbara worked many years in the real estate field after finally retiring in 2005.
She loved antiques, making chocolate chip cookies for her husband's lunches, her faith, and anything related to the American West.
Barbara is survived by her devoted husband Greg Ward; daughter Madolyn Freeman (David) and their three children Siobhan, Samantha, and Spencer of Long Prairie, Minn. Her mother Glenna M. Wehl, sister Debra Gibbons (Tom), their son Sean, her niece Amber Bloomfield and family all of Carson City. Barbara is also survived by nieces Roxine Dennis of Rosamond, Calif., and Nicole Stapp of Jensen Beach, Fla., and their families. She is also blessed by an extended family and many loving friends.
Barbara was predeceased by her father in 1983, and sister Lorelei Gabbard in 2004.
