MINDEN (AP) - A former Douglas County woman has been sentenced to life in prison with possible parole for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.
Julie Lynn Fry, 35, must serve at least 10 years before she is eligible for release under the sentenced imposed Monday by District Judge Michael Gibbons in Minden.
Fry had pleaded guilty to felony sexual assault.
Her co-defendant, Donald John Reynolds, 43, pleaded guilty to attempted sexual assault. He was sentenced Monday to eight years in prison with possible parole after two years.
According to police, Fry, while attending a party, allegedly bragged about having sex with the minor in June. A guest at the party notified authorities.
Deputies then contacted the girl, who confirmed the story. By then, Fry and Reynolds had moved to Utah and were extradited to Douglas County.
The defendants claimed the sex was consensual, but admitted supplying the victim with alcohol.
"I just want to say how sorry I am," Fry said. "It was not my intention to hurt a little girl. I hope she forgives us."
Reynolds read a statement to the judge in which he said he was "ashamed and truly sorry."
Fry and Reynolds must register as sex offenders and are subject to lifetime supervision by parole and probation officials.
