Machinery suspected in the illegal manufacture of weapons was removed by investigators Tuesday from the shop of a man also charged with possession of child pornography.
Detective Craig Lowe said a search warrant, filed last week in Carson City Justice Court, allowed for the seizure of about $12,000 in equipment that investigators suspect Glenn Ware used to manufacture two fully automatic .50 caliber rifles and a machine gun.
About 8 a.m. Tuesday, officers oversaw the removal of the machinery from Ware's shop at his Goni Road home.
The warrant took about two hours to complete.
Ware, 60, remains in custody in the Carson City Jail charged with 32 counts of possession of child pornography and three counts of manufacturing or possession of a dangerous weapon.
According to police reports, in October 2007 Ware allegedly began exchanging e-mails with an undercover federal agent in San Francisco in which he requested to trade child pornography.
Based on the information from federal officers, Carson City investigators conducted a search of Ware's home on March 12, 2009.
A subsequent forensic examination of one of the computers seized allegedly uncovered scores of images and videos depicting children as young as 12 months old being violated by adult men and women, said Detective Craig Lowe.
Also during that search, the weapons were found.
In August, the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms determined them to be fully functioning, automatic weapons.
Under U.S. and Nevada law, it is illegal to manufacture machine guns unless you have a federal firearms manufacturing license.
A hearing to determine if there is enough evidence to try Ware on the pornography and weapons charges is set for January.
