A camouflaged intruder burst into a west Carson City home early Tuesday morning and held the homeowner at gunpoint, an investigator said.

Carson Sheriff's Detective Dave Le Gros said the 24-year-old victim was asleep at his home in the 4200 block of Kings Canyon Road when heard knocks on his door just before 3 a.m.

When the man answered the door, no one was there, said Le Gros.

Several minutes later, the man heard another knock.

This time when he answered the door he noticed a subject dressed in a camouflage ghillie suit crouched under the front window.

When asked who he was, the suspect said he was a sheriff's deputy, then pretended to call for backup, said Le Gros.

The victim went back into his home and shut the door, but the suspect broke through the door and held a gun to the man's head, said Le Gros.

After a short struggle, the homeowner was able to push the intruder outside. The suspect then ran east on Kings Canyon Road and disappeared into the night, said Le Gros.

A neighbor who heard the commotion also reported seeing the suspect fleeing.

Le Gros said it does not appear to be a Halloween prank, and the victim can't think of any friends who would play such a joke on him.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Le Gros at 887-2020 ext. 41404.
