This is my favorite holiday. Not only do I love the candy, caramel apples, hot cider, adorable and sometime scary costumes, and cute little ones. I really welcome seeing the older children as well, knowing that they are still being kids. Most of all, it's my daughter, McKenna's birthday. A true witch in training. Happy 18th birthday. And happy Halloween to all of you. Try some of these fun events.
HALLOWEEN: VIRGINIA CITY STYLE
I really do appreciate a great caramel apple and Virginia City is the place to go to find them all year long. I had a caramel drizzled with white chocolate green apple two weeks ago in VC. Simply decadent. Starting Friday night, with the annual Nevada Statehood Governor]s Ball and going all day and all night Saturday, there is some spooky fun for everyone all over town.

NEVADA DAY PARADE - AND HONEST ABE
Most people never pay attention to the Nevada Day Theme. But this year's Nevada Day theme is "Nevada Salutes President Lincoln" thanks to Bob Nylen, the Nevada State Museum Curator of History. So head downtown, be careful, and celebrate the induction of our beautiful state into the union and get a few souvenirs. I know on Musser and Carson Street - on the street between the attorney general and secretary of state offices you can purchase for $5 a hot little black garter with a penny on the garter in honor of Abraham Lincoln thanks to the lassies' of Soroptimist International of Carson City.
WHAT: The Nevada Day Parade, 10 a.m. Saturday flyover of F-18 Hornets, F-16 Falcon, from the Fallon Naval Air Station and C-130 Hercules from the Nevada Air Guard. The parade features floats, marching bands, and a variety of entertainment. Hot air balloon launch starts at 8 a.m.

Come join them in the post Halloween candy buy back. They will weigh the candy and pay your child $1 per pound (up to 5 pounds per child) and your kids will receive a firefly light up toothbrush.
