Change we need: Vote out all incumbents

They (politicians) don't seem to get us. I think the change Americans want is out with the old and in with really new.

In the Oct. 22 Nevada Appeal is a short bit that Obama plans to order pay cut compensations for the highest-paid executive of the huge bailout babies.

Interesting, huh?

I note Congress and the administration also now have yearly automatic pay increases. They don't even have to vote themselves one. Isn't that interesting? American people get no annual increase in their Social Security. Once again, they play while we pay.

A whole lot of people I know who voted for Obama are now talking differently. There is more talk about kicking out the whole bunch - forget about Red or Blue - and just getting rid of all incumbents.

How about Dr. Robin Titus of Yerington? In the Record-Courier's Oct. 22 issue is an article on Dr. Titus. She is running for U.S. Senate to make a difference, not for power or money.

Doesn't that sound refreshing?

Genoa: Please get some seating for us old folks

We rode the V&T this past weekend to Virginia City and back. We enjoyed the comfortable and educational train trip. When we arrived at Virginia City, we had several hours to walk around and visit the shops.

We are in our 60s to 70s and we appreciated all the benches (many shaded) that Virginia City offers throughout the city for people to utilize while enjoying the town. It was a very nice untiring day.

We also went to the Candy Dance, as we do every year, and while we did enjoy the huge craft fair, it was very tiring. Unlike Virginia City, there are very few places to sit and rest. The food court area and the park are the only places to sit and rest. This year, we got chased out of the park, as we took our dog, Hairy the Horrible. We were advised that dogs are not allowed in that area anymore.

Hence, we were relegated to sitting on rocks near the craft booths. We parked in one of the designated parking areas and took the shuttle both ways. When leaving, we had to stand in long lines with nowhere to sit. Many people sat on the ground, but not everyone is physically able to do that.

While both places are fun to visit, Virginia City is much more "old-folk-friendly." Maybe the Candy Dance can take some notes from them.
