An allegedly unlicensed and intoxicated driver was injured Friday morning in an accident on Snyder Avenue in front of the Carson Lanes.
Deputy Jarrod Adams said Pat Turrentine, 44, pulled out from the bowling alley parking lot into the path of an eastbound Ford pickup truck driven by Wes Smokey, 20, of Carson City.
Smokey said he hit his brakes and attempted to swerve away from Turrentine's Dodge Intrepid.
"I tried to not actually hit the driver's door," said Smokey.
But the Bronco T-boned the sedan in the driver's door, pinning Turrentine inside.
Smokey and a passenger were unhurt.
It took firefighters 20 minutes to cut the car away to remove Turrentine.
Initial reports from witnesses indicated Turrentine lost consciousness at some point, but he was awake when police arrived.
Adams said rescuers smelled alcohol on Turrentine. Adams also said Turrentine was not a licensed driver and only had an identification card in his possession.
He was loaded onto a Care Flight helicopter and taken to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno with a head injury.
Adams said Turrentine's blood will drawn to determine if he was intoxicated.
