A benefit concert for Rebecca Martin, an 11-year-old Gardnerville girl who was hit by a car on Aug. 13, will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School, 701 Long Valley Road, Gardnerville.
Becca's friends have come together to help raise money for the Martin family as they struggle with the accident that has put their daughter in the USC Medical Center in Los Angeles.
The concert, called "Becca Shines," is sponsored by Theatre of Arts Discipline and the Carson Valley Arts Council. Tickets may be purchased for $15 at the arts council's office in the Copeland Building in Minden (781-0150) or online at cvartscouncil.com
/events or at the door. The evening also will include raffles and a silent auction.
Becca is in stable condition, at USC Medical Center, with a fractured pelvis, bruised lungs and a brain injury. The extent of the injury has not been determined at this time, but through the help of the Caring Bridge Web site car
