A practical joke on an employee who recently celebrated his birthday prompted a call to police Tuesday morning after workers at a glass shop found a suspicious package.
An employee of Great Basin Glass on Highway 50 East called police at 8:08 a.m. after finding an oddly shaped envelope left in the mail slot at the business. Written on the outside was: "Open in an enclosed space such as a bathroom. Might be anthrax. Might be letter bomb."
Carson City Sheriff's Capt. Ken Sandage said the envelope also mentioned the Committee to Re-elect Obama, ACORN and the ACLU.
Police cordoned off the complex, which also houses other businesses, for about 90 minutes.
An examination of the envelope revealed it contained wires and a speaker. After further investigation, it was found to be a musical birthday card.
As a precaution, the envelope was taken to a safe location and opened.
"It ended up being greeting card from a friend," said Detective Daniel Gonzales.
