Gov. Jim Gibbons has named Boulder City educator Andrea Anderson to the board of Regents.

She replaces Stavros Anthony, who resigned after winning a seat on the Las Vegas City Council.

Anderson has 26 years in higher education, mostly at the College of Southern Nevada. She retired from the Nevada System of Higher Education earlier this year.

She also served two terms on the Boulder City Council and was a member of the Southern Nevada Water Authority Board of Directors, the Colorado River Commission and Governor's Commission on Aging.

Anderson holds a doctorate in educational leadership.
