Nevada legislative leadership has posted the membership of several dozen interim committees and study groups, including the newly created study of Nevada's tax and revenue system and the subcommittee to oversee federal stimulus money.
Senate Majority Leader Steven Horsford, D-Las Vegas, will chair the tax and revenue study, backed by Assemblyman Marcus Conklin, D-Las Vegas, as vice chair of the panel that consists of eight members from each house.
Assemblywoman Debbie Smith, D-Sparks, heads the oversight subcommittee to monitor Nevada's receipt and expenditure of money from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. That panel has 12 members.
The are also seven interim studies, including governance of public education, the production and use of energy and the balance of power between state and local governments.
One of the interim panels that will be closely watched by lawmakers is the study of requirements for reapportionment and redistricting, which will be done during the 2011 Legislature following the census. Nevada expects to get at least one more congressional representative, but the shifting state population will require redrafting all legislative, board of education and regents districts, among others.
The full list of members named to each of the committees is available on the legislative Web site under Interim Information.
