Memorial golf tournament planned
Mark Twain school counselor, Shirley Oxoby of Carson City saw her 25-year-old daughter Kerri pass away due to an allergic reaction to candy not correctly labeled and decided to turn a negative into a positive. With the entire family and extended family, she helps others achieve their dreams. Each year the Kerri Oxoby Memorial Scholarship is given at Carson High School to two students - one male, one female - with the goal of attending the University of Nevada, Reno. Thanks to community involvement, the scholarship has increased in value to $3,000 per student. Come help them remember Kerri's brilliant smile and loving heart by playing in the family's annual memorial golf tournament.

Soroptimist swings a Stroke to Help
The tournament that does "think pink." And helps support women in the community fight the toughest battle, breast cancer. Medical coverage for some women is not available and where do you go for coverage? Who can help when you have been diagnosed? This local fundraiser provides assistance to local women who otherwise would have nothing while facing the most difficult decisions of their lives.
The eighth annual "Stroke to Help" is here and is looking for golfers to help raise money to provide women free mammograms and biopsies to woman with zero insurance or no ability to pay. This tournament is essential for women getting the assistance needed for early detection.
