SPARKS a" Carson High improved to 2-0 with a 2-1 nonleague boys soccer win over Reed Wednesday night.
Carson is 2-0-0 heading into Saturdayas Sierra League opener at Bishop Manogue at 11 a.m.

Carsonas defense, led by Nate Eng, Jorge Guevara, Guillermo Alonso and Luis Aguilar, didnat allow a goal until late in the second half.
Reed attempted a corner kick, and the assistant referee ruled that Carson goalie Pedro Chavez batted the ball down on the line and awarded Reed a goal.
Luis Gonzalez gave Carson a 1-0 lead midway through the opening half. Gustavo Gonzalez made it 2-0 in the 65th minute.
Chavez was credited with four saves.
In JV action, Carson and Reed battled to a scoreless tie.
