I would like to submit a kudos and thank you to the Grocery Outlet and owner Dave Cox for their VERY generous donation to the Fritsch PTA's Welcome Back Ice Cream Social held on Sept. 3.

It was a huge success with over 500 students and parents in attendance. Their gift was so much appreciated, especially during these tough times. THANK YOU!

On behalf of the board of directors and staff at the Boys & Girls Club, I would like to thank everyone who had anything to do with the construction of the new clubhouse.

It has been a long road that is well documented, but the village came through and built something that we can all be proud to have been involved with. So many people contributed - some very large amounts - along with hundreds of varying levels.

The community is invited to visit our Web site for a complete list of donors: www.bgcwn.org.

The grand opening event on the 2nd was a very joyful occasion and it was so emotional for those closest to the club.

Many donors, volunteers, board members and staff were overwhelmed by the number of people who came to celebrate the opening of this first phase of our new home.

Special thanks to John Hurzal with A Catered Affaire, the Kiwanis Club, Papa Murphy's, Western Nevada Supply, Carson Valley Movers, the Sheriffs Department and, of course, the Carson High Blue Thunder Marching Band.

If anyone would like to tour the facility just stop by and check in with the staff. Again, thanks to the community for this investment into the youth, into our future.

A great summer at the Boys & Girls Club started with our Youth of the Year, Jordan Arellano throwing out the first pitch at a Reno Aces game thanks to Bank of America, and it cumulated with a move of our program from the Stewart Street facility to our new Club on Russell Way and Northridge.

Thanks to the generosity of Carson Valley Movers we were able to move everything in two days at no cost except for some sore muscles!

There are too many people to mention in this article and I am sure someone will be left out, so I thank our Board of Directors for their undying commitment, our staff for their passion to improving the lives of our youth and the community at large for incredible support all of these years.

All are encouraged to visit our Web site, www.bgcwn.org for photos of our move and a list of contributors who made this Dream a Reality.

I would truly like to thank the person who found and turned in my husband's walker on Aug. 31 in the parking lot of the Carson City Walmart.

Without the walker, Gerald cannot get around at all.

Folks like you are what make shopping in Carson City so great.
