Ceremony honors POWs and MIAs

In honor of the 2009 POW/MIA Recognition Day, the Carson City chapter of the Vietnam Vets of America will host a ceremony Friday morning at the Nevada Veterans Memorial on the Capitol Plaza.

The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. with the posting of the American flag by the Carson High School NJROTC Color Guard.

Brian O'Connell, Carson chapter vice-president, will post the POW/MIA flag.

Tim Tetz, executive director of the Nevada Office of Veteran's Services, will be the guest speaker.

The Veterans Memorial is between the State Library and the Capitol Annex on the Capitol Plaza downtown.
