A Carson City man awaiting a hearing on charges related to child pornography was jailed Friday afternoon after a forensic examination of weapons removed during his March arrest determined they were fully operational homemade machine guns.
Glenn Ware, 60, was arrested at 2 p.m. at his Goni Road home on a warrant charging three counts of manufacture of a dangerous weapon, and one count of felony bail violation.
Ware is awaiting a preliminary hearing next month on 32 counts of possession child pornography.
At the time of his initial arrest, officers removed what appeared to be homemade .50 caliber weapons from a machine shop on his property, said Detective Craig Lowe.
The results earlier this month of an analysis by Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms deemed the weapons as machine guns, Friday's arrest report indicates.
Under U.S. and Nevada law, it is illegal to manufacture machine guns unless you have a federal firearms manufacturing license.
Department of Alternative Sentencing Chief Rory Planeta said the bail violation charge came about after an alternative sentencing officer visited Ware's home on Thursday and allegedly discovered "child erotica" on a computer and evidence that another weapon was being manufactured. Ware's bail is set at $60,000.
