The Carson Lady Senators scored a goal in the second minute and went on to
whip Fallon, 7-1, on Saturday at the Edward Arciniega Athletic Complex.
Carson improved to 5-0 in Sierra League play and 6-0-1 overall. Fallon lost
its sixth straight match and dropped to 0-5 in league and 2-8 overall.
"It was pretty good," Carson acting head coach Cassie Carter said of her
team's lopsided win. "We started out fast, and then we dropped off and it
was hard to get a rhythm. But then we began connecting on our passes a
little better and things turned around for us."
Carter ran the team in place of head coach Randy Roser, who is out of the
country.
Miriah Tomkins scored the early goal, giving Carson a lead it would never
relinquish. Kenzie Tillit scored in the 24th minute and added another goal
about two minutes later for a 3-0 Carson lead.
Juilianne Hale scored Fallon's only goal in the 32nd minute, connecting
on a corner kick rebound.
The second half was all Carson as the Lady Senators scored four goals, all
from inside the six-foot goalie's box. Samantha Fishburn scored in the 52nd
and 80th minutes. In between, Arran Rumbaugh connected in the 64th minute
and Eliza Matley scored in the 77th minute.
"We had moments that we played OK," Fallon coach Lance Lattin said.
"Carson's a good team. In the second half we played hard in the first 10-12
minutes and did pretty well, limiting them to one shot. Then we physically
and mentally got worn out, and that's when they really took it to us."
The Lady Wave plays at Wooster on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
