LAS VEGAS (AP) - A 63-year-old Arizona man previously convicted of killing more than 500 trees in an upscale Las Vegas community has been arrested after authorities say he threatened Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons about the case.

Nevada Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Gail Powell says Douglas Hoffman was arrested March 19 by authorities in Arizona on a felony warrant stemming from rambling letters sent in 2007.

Powell says Hoffman was released Friday on $100,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in an Arizona court April 7.

Hoffman lives in Goodyear, Ariz. He was convicted in 2007 of cutting down or poisoning trees in the Sun City Anthem community of Henderson to preserve his Las Vegas Strip view.

He was sentenced to 18 months in prison and ordered to pay $246,085 in restitution.
