HENDERSON (AP) - A Southern Nevada hospital system says the elimination of 57 jobs and consolidation of some services will reduce costs during the economic downturn.

St. Rose Dominican Hospitals said Wednesday that most of the laid-off employees were in administrative and support positions, and that patient care wouldn't be affected.

The St. Rose system has about 3,500 employees at three hospitals in Henderson and southwest Las Vegas.
