Happy Easter, and a blessed one at that. It is, after all, Christendom's highest holy day, as well as the day we hunt for eggs and see bunnies all over the place. As for us, we're probably hiding and hunting our own eggs.

If you're wanting to see a fun musical, get to Wild Horse Theater's "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" this coming weekend. Dates are April 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24 at 8 p.m. There also is a matinee on the 18th at 4 p.m. This delightful show was a big hit on Broadway (with adults playing all the children's roles), and has a PG-13 rating (more for adults than children). Directed by Jeffrey Scott, and produced by Pat Josten and Carol Scott, it will be performed in the Children's Museum, 813 N. Carson St. (lots of parking in the back). You will recognize many of Northern Nevada's heavy hitters in this production: Leony Berg, Tom Strekal, Marcia Bateman; and, as the spellers: Rod Hearn, Robin Cato, Maggie Jesse, James McDuffie, Dezi Davis and Chris Willson. Tickets can be obtained by calling 887-0438 or going to www.
showtix4u.com. General admission is $18; seniors and students, $15. Should be a "don't miss" and a real hoot! See you there.

Happy Birthday to these old people: Rory Hogen, Sherry Hester, and Mary Efford Jones. And to "not so old" Nolan Olson. Cake for all! Nancee Goldwater had a birthday last month and celebrated it by giving blood. She challenges others to also give the "gift of life." Thanks, Nancee. A big thank you to TJ Saputra at The Basil for drying off M and C after a big rain squall... certainly above and beyond the call of duty.

"Someone" you know has fingers that look like they were chewed up by a cat. A "cat fight" you say? No, just a fight with cleaning her furnace filters. Sane people would have gotten a brush and a degreaser first, but nooooo; Windex, a knife and paper towels did the trick. However, the "cat" won. Next time.

The Hutaree terrorists are idiots; how would killing policemen incite us to revolt against the government? Seems to us, their thinking is as fuzzy as their weirdo convictions. Isn't it always amazing what "God" asks us to do? Most wars are fought in "God's" name. We're sure He shudders at the thought.

St. Peter's Episcopal Church is having a "Buddy Holly Sock Hop" as a fundraiser on Saturday, April 10, at the Brewery Arts Center's ballroom from 7-10 p.m. Dancing, food, drink and the music of Bob Reid and the Rave-Ons will be available for $60 for singles, or $100 per couple. For tickets, go to www.breweryarts.org and click on "community events." You'll have a great time and help St. Peter's, too. Mallard's at Empire Ranch Golf Club is holding a big NCAA Championship party beginning at 5 p.m. Monday (885-1019). Lots of TV sets on which to watch the game, and $18 for all the food you can eat and all the beer you can drink (if you don't want to drink, it's a lot less). A fun deal.

Soooo, from off the Internet: "How many points does the Easter Bunny get for making a basket? Two points, just like everybody else; or three points if you're outside the field goal line." "If the Easter Bunny is getting cross with the other bunnies, is he having a 'bad hare day?'"
