Heritage Bank of Nevada will close one of its Carson City branches and reopen it in Gardnerville by June, the bank announced Friday.
The new Gardnerville branch will be located in the building that used to house Colonial Bank, 1299 Highway 395 N., which was closed by Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation last month.
Heritage Bank is relocating its recently acquired branch at 951 Jacks Valley Road, which used to house Carson River Valley Bank. Heritage took over the failed bank in February through the FDIC.
"Our goal has been to find a location in either Gardnerville or Minden and move our newly acquired branch on Jacks Valley Road to a Carson Valley location," said Stan Wilmoth, Heritage Bank president. "By opening a branch in the Gardnerville and Minden area, we are able to retain the majority of employees from the Carson River Bank branch."
The employees at the Jacks Valley Road location will keep their positions at the new branch, said Audrey Tedore, a spokeswoman for Heritage Bank.
Among them are Brent Holderman, previously with Nevada Banking Company and Carson River Community Bank, who will serve as the branch manager.
Jerry Gregory, also a longtime area banker who has worked for Citibank, Nevada Business Bank and Bank of America, will focus on business development in the area.
Heritage Bank's other Carson City location is 4222 S. Carson St.
