CASA Fundraisers

I support all programs that assist children and especially programs that allow a child to have a voice. Becoming a CASA volunteer is being able to talk, listen and implement change for a child's best interest and welfare. It's about caring for a child's wishes. It does take patience, determination and time but what a great pleasure in making the courts know what a child can't, won't or is afraid to say when confronted by so many strangers. To have your own advocating supporter is a gift for children that have been appointed a CASA worker. Please think about attending the "Speak up for a Child" program.

SEARCH & RESCUE

2010 WINE TASTING

This organization only holds two events per year and, well, being a Harley lover, I have to say this event is going to be a fun time. That's right you can check out the bikes at the Harley Davidson Dealership while supporting a great program. Enjoy wine, microbrews, appetizers, live music from the Western Ragtime Band and Chris Bayer. There are meet-and-greet demos by the Longhorns, Naval Air Station, Fallon, the Search & Rescue team and Care Flight. Look, for $20 you can help support the men and women who make all the difference in an emergency. This nonprofit organization is volunteer based, and without it many lives would have been lost.

OPERATION FAIRY

GODMOTHER PROM DRESS

This program is such a big help and the dresses are coming in. Thank you all so much for so many beautiful dresses. No dress will go to waste; any dress not used for prom will be donated to middle schools for graduation. We will make sure every dress finds a girl to make happy. They will be arriving on site at Carson High starting April 12 for young ladies needing dresses and accessories. Again a thank you to the Carson High nursing staff and supervisor, Shelia Story for allowing this program to be on-site so the girls may select the perfect dresses. This year, Salon Chocolat owner Sarah Zeron said to drop dresses by or if you want to purchase an up-do styling or products for the girls she would give anyone purchasing items for prom a 20 percent discount. Sarah's a Carson High graduate herself and knows what going to the prom is all about and wants the girls to feel beautiful. Linda Martin has been tireless making sure everyone knows they are accepting not only dresses but purses, earrings, all accessories from nylon to nail polish so stop by. Again thank all of you for the support every girl deserves a night to sparkle.
