(AP) - An agency has approved a record $90 million in funding for Reno-area road construction this year.
The Washoe County Regional Transportation Commission's action affects 30 projects on about 50 streets.
Included are two freeway projects in conjunction with the Nevada Department of Transportation: $31 million to widen northbound U.S. 395 from Moana Lane to Interstate 80, and $21.8 million for a freeway interchange at U.S. 395 and Meadowood Mall Way.
But most of the work involves dozens of arterial streets in the Reno-Sparks area.
The projects will be funded with money from motor fuel taxes approved by voters in 2008.
RTC officials say the projects will create an estimated 3,000 jobs.
